White Shield is providing topographic and volume surveys in the 100-K Area using both electronic total station and high definition scanning technologies to support designs for the excavation of existing buildings and waste sites. The surface data collected is used along with information gathered from the research of old civil/structural drawings to identify buildings and structures that have elevations below the surface (some as deep as 50 feet below surface grade) to create topographical maps of the excavation sites. These surveys are necessary to meet safety standards during the performance of the remediation tasks, and to enable the calculation of excavation volume estimates.
