Umatilla Governance Center, Mission, Oregon

Cascade Design Professionals for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation

White Shield supported Cascade Design and the CTUIR with survey services for the overall site design for development of a 27-acre Tribal Governance Center, which includes a 10,000 sq ft Public Safety Building and future tribal administration offices.  Site design of the Center began with the coordination of White Shield’s project surveyor and geotechnical firm for boundary and topographic surveys and the siting of boreholes.  A preliminary site layout was developed for five separate buildings, and following approval by the client and architect, the firm designed new roads, parking and site utilities, and storage areas with particular attention to opportunities to re-use collected stormwater as part of the overall project green focus.  After approval by the client and the architect, White Shield provided drawings supporting the final design of the street, four separate parking lots, sanitary and water service and storm drainage collection, treatment, detention and disposal systems. Construction staking services for the project were also provided.  Subsequently, White Shield provided Cascade Design with survey services that supported the civil and structural engineering for the new Public Safety Building which contains offices, meeting rooms, holding cells, and emergency services facilities.
